dc.description.abstract Groundwater is the supreme source of natural water supply, and the most widely distributed renewable earth. Its role in modern development has increasingly been recognized. A shortage of groundwater, in areas of overdraft, stresses the significance of its reliable estimates and proper development, regulation and protection of supplies to ensure a perennial supply of this vital source. The Barend Tract is one of the major physiographic units of Bangladesh. This Tract lies in the north-western part of Greater Rajshahi District. The land of this Barend Tract has never been sincerely tested or any practical effort has never been made to confirm the feasibility for groundwater development in this region. en_US
