Abstract:
Arabidopsis thaliana L. has been considered as a model plant in genetics and molecular biology researches worldwide. It is widely distributed from tropics to temperate habitat. The occurrence of different ecotypes of A. thaliana have been reported in different countries in the world. However, there is no report on the existence of A. thaliana in Bangladesh. In the present study the occurrence of A. thaliana in Bangladesh was surveyed and identified. The present study also includes, growth stage based phenotypic analysis in vitro culture, genetic transformation and TONA integration site determination on chromosome through Flouresnt in situ hybridization (FISH) in A. thaliww ecotype bangladesh.
Plant specimens were collected f om three different parts of Bangladesh and were analyzed for different morphological characters for taxonomic identification. The data generated in the present study elucidated that the plant specimens were the Arabidopsis thaliana L. This is the first time report about the existence of A. thaliana in Bangladesh and we named it as A. tha/iana ecotype bangladesh. Growth stage-based phenotypic analysis was carried out on a newly identified genotype of A. thaliana ecotype bangladesh and the results were compared with standard ecotype columbia. The data on morphological character of ecotype columbia were collected from the report of Douglas et al., (200 I).-----------
